In 2015, Hiab introduced a new revolutionary system in the load-handling process, VSL PLUS – (Variable Stability Limit PLUS), which allows the crane's load capacity to increase automatically in relation to vehicle stability.

In practice, the VSL PLUS system means measuring the load on all 4 stabilizers using sensors, as well as the mass of the cargo loaded in the truck body, in order to increase the crane's load capacity. This system protects the crane operator, the crane, and the vehicle itself from overload while, on the other hand, automatically increasing the crane's load capacity by taking the total weight of the truck into account when calculating stability.

How does it really work?

With the VSL PLUS system, it is possible to measure (using sensors) the real load on the stabilizers. A heavier load in the cargo body means more pressure on the stabilizers themselves, which means better stability. The VSL PLUS system then comes into play, allowing the crane to exceed its existing load capacity limit and lift a heavier load instead of the previous lockout due to overload.

This function is unique to Hiab and is part of the everyday commitment of the Hiab company to further product development in order to increase the satisfaction of its customers.
