This is a coarse cartridge, 200 microns, installed on the suction side or as a pre-filter. It retains larger particles before they reach the pump.

A coarse filter does not replace a fine return filter – they work at different points in the system. Fitting a finer cartridge on the suction side causes pump cavitation.
