Crane slewing bearing
Bearing of the crane's slewing (rotation) mechanism. Carries the entire boom load during rotation.
The slewing bearing is one of the most heavily loaded parts of the crane — the entire load of the boom and the load being lifted passes through it with every rotation. It works with large forces and low speeds, which is the most demanding regime for a bearing.
Play in this bearing is felt as swaying of the entire crane and must not be ignored, because it is a safety-critical assembly.
