The coil is the winding that moves the control valve spool when voltage is applied. It is designed for continuous duty, insulation class H up to 180 degrees.

With a burned-out coil the valve does not shift even though the control works. The check is done by measuring the coil resistance – an open circuit or short circuit is a clear finding.
