The proportional solenoid controls the amount of flow through the valve in proportion to the current it receives, so the speed of raising and lowering the tipper body is regulated finely, not in jumps.

A fault is recognized by the tipper body working only at full speed or not responding at all. Before replacing, check the voltage at the connector – the cause is often a broken cable, not the coil.
