The pressure filter is located downstream of the pump, on the line under full operating pressure, and is the last protection before the oil enters the control valve and cylinders. It is built to withstand high pressure, so it must not be replaced with a return line filter.

This filter is especially important after a pump overhaul or fault repair, when residual particles may remain in the system.
